DO YOU REMEMBER A PUB CALLED THE SOVEREIGN IN RUTHERGLEN, IF SO PLEASE DO GET IN TOUCH?

22nd September 2013...

I would like to thank everyone who turned up at Glasgow Doors Open Day on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday for a talk on the Gallowgate Pubs. Many people turned up and I must say it was a great success. So Thank you all for showing your kindness and listening to me for an hour.

This is a great time for people to try and go to your own local pub and find out the pubs history and give the pub your support.

I will also like to remember the people who said they have images and information to get in touch with me soon.

Cheers John Gorevan.

19th September 2013...

I would like to thank everyone who came along to Glasgow Doors Open Day on Wednesday 18th September. It was a great turnout.

Remember I will be talking again on the history of Gallowgate Pubs at the Hielan Jessie on Saturday 20th Sept and Sunday 21st Sept. I may have to talk outdoors on Saturday as the football customers will probably fill the pub. But I am sure I will tell you something about the Gallowgate Pubs that you didn't know. See you there.

I was sent an email today from Elaine Scoular, she stated that the Mail Coach, Hamilton Road by the old Glasgow Zoo has closed down and there is a sign saying Under New Management. I am sure the Mail Coach will open shortly. I will keep you posted.

Also, Bairds Bar, Gallowgate is still closed down after Tam Cadbury lose his Licence. I have heard that he has got a lady friend ready to apply for the Licence. at the Licensing Board next month. What this space.

26 March 2013...

The oldest pub in Glasgow is to be demolished, The Old College Bar.
