Chubby Chester's. 1990s.
This was a great pub during the 1980s, at one time there were 11 stewards on the premises. It was flooded went on fire and was soon demolished afterwards.
During the 1980s this pub was known as Zhivagos, owned by Tony Ghani and wife Anne, they also owned Blckjack's in Hope Street. Alec Nicol the DJ was resident in both these premises, I remember him well, he had a fantastic voice and played great music, he would have been great on one of the major radio shows.
After the flood and a refit Mr & Mrs Ghani sold the place and less than a year later, they bought at Hogganfield Loch off Cumbernauld Road, but it was a white elephant, a few years later it was set on fire and closed down.
