Pub Champions..

When it comes to a question of sport the Penny Gegg'e pub is unbeatable. And they've got the cup to prove it.

Charlie, John, and Paul (above) are three regulars in the Barnstorms Bar at the famous Pollokshaws pub.

They like a good laugh and one wintry night decided to put themselves forward at the pub's second term in a national pub quiz. But the laugh turned serious as they went through the first round, the second, the third, and right through to the final where they beat the Scots Bar, from Edinburgh.

"It was a team effort," said captain Paul Twigg (26), from 166 Crofton Avenue, Croftfoot. Their biggest problem was keeping their heads clear. The brewery who sponsored the quiz gave a prize of a bottle of whisky to each member of the winning team.

That was for the first round. By the time they reached the final, one gallon each was the prize.

DO YOU REMEMBER WHERE THIS GREAT PUB WAS SITUATED. If so please get in touch. Cheers. John Gorevan.
