The Round Toll.

Possil Road, Glasgow.

 

Bravery Award for Pub Manager.

Mr James Connelly, manager of the Round Toll Bar, Possil Road, Glasgow, is to receive the Glasgow Corporation Medal for Bravery for his heroism when a gunman ran amok in Glasgow in July 1969.

The gunman, James Griffiths, shot 13 persons and fatally injured one before he himself was shot dead.

While he was being hunted, he entered the Round Toll Bar, carrying two guns. When he demanded drink Mr Connelly, defying the guns, forcibly ejected him. Later Griffiths re-entered the pub and shot one of the customers. who later died.
