Dance with a drink into small hours.

Glasgow city centre disco fans will now be able to drink and dance to the small hours, thanks to a decision today by the city's licensing board.

The board approved applications by three city centre discos, which allows drinking until 1a.m. at Spankies and until 2 a.m. at the White Elephant and the Savoy Centre.

But, the board said dancers had to be in the hall by 10.30 p.m. - a move to stop people going into halls after the pubs have closed.

BIG ASSET

Although the dance halls have been open until these hours up until now, all drink had to be finished by 11 p.m. After the decision Mr Robert McFarlane, manager of Spankies, said he was delighted and added- "This will certainly he a great asset to Glasgow's social scene."

End.
